Troubleshooting - FAQs

Lights are an indicator of charging levels, cleaning and some issues that might appear in your IQOS device. Read on to discover what the different lights mean.
Here are the main status lights you may see on an IQOS ILUMA and IQOS ILUMA PRIME Holder and what they mean.

Blinking red light: When the light on your IQOS ILUMA and IQOS ILUMA PRIME Holder is flashing red, this signals a problem with the device. This could be caused by one of the following issues:
● Your device might need a RESET.
● The firmware update might have failed.
● Proximity to a magnet can also affect the device calibration, which causes the blinking red light. To avoid this issue, make sure you do not place the Holder against (or near) a magnet while using the device.

White light: You may notice pulsing white lights on your IQOS ILUMA Holder. There are a few possible explanations for this:
● Either your Holder is pre-heating the tobacco stick, or your IQOS experience is shortly going to finish.
● The device has been exposed to extremely hot or cold temperatures. If this is the case, you may need to give your device a few minutes to return to the correct operating temperature. The operating temperature range is between 0°C and 40°C. You may also notice stationary white lights appear after a short press of the Holder button. This shows the battery life of your Holder:
● Two lights indicate that your Holder has enough charge for two heated tobacco sticks.
● One light indicates it has enough charge for one heated tobacco stick.
Blinking yellow/orange light: You may notice a blinking yellow/orange light. This means your device needs to be charged.
Are the lights on your IQOS ILUMA Pocket Charger flashing? Find out about the main status light signals and what they mean:
Blinking red light: You may notice that the red light on your IQOS ILUMA Pocket Charger is flashing. This means that your Holder is warning you that its charge is low.
● You can stop the light from flashing by charging your device.
● Keep the contacts between your Holder and Pocket Charger clean to ensure an optimal charge.
● When the strip light of your Pocket Charger is blinking red, perform a RESET by pressing the Pocket Charger button for 10 seconds. Keep it pressed while all the lights fade out and fade in again. Wait until the device vibrates.

White lights:
● Blinking white light: This could indicate that your device has been exposed to temperatures outside of the operating range. You may need to give your device a few minutes to get back to the correct temperature, which is between 0°C and 40°C.
● Pulsing white rounded lights: This means that your Holder is being charged. If you quickly press the Pocket Charger button, the lights will stop blinking and stay lit to show how much charge your device has left.
● Two stationary rounded lights mean your Holder has enough charge for two back-to-back experiences.
● One stationary rounded light indicates your Holder has enough charge for one experience.
● Stationary white strip lights: You may notice that stationary white strip lights appear after a short press of the Pocket Charger button. The white strip lights will indicate the battery levels of the Pocket Charger
● Four white strip lights: more than 75% charged.
● Three white strip lights: 50% - 75% charged.
● Two white strip lights: 25% - 50% charged.
● One white strip light: Less than 25% charged.

Blinking yellow/orange light: This means that your IQOS ILUMA needs to be charged. Fifteen minutes of charge should be sufficient for the light to stop blinking.
You may notice that the LED lights on your IQOS ILUMA and IQOS ILUMA Prime Pocket Charger are not lighting up. In this case, your device may simply be turned off or it is not charging correctly. To fix this, follow these steps:
● Place the IQOS ILUMA Holder in the Pocket Charger.
● Press and hold the button on the Pocket Charger for 10 seconds to reset your device. This will turn your device back on.
● Charge your Pocket Charger by connecting it to a power outlet using the official IQOS power adaptor and charging cable.
● While your Pocket Charger is charging, the lights on the charging bar will pulsate. If your device is heavily discharged, it may take up to 20 minutes for charging to begin.
If the problem is still not resolved, you can run the Online Device Diagnostic Tool.
You may notice that the LED lights on your IQOS ILUMA ONE are not lighting up. In this case, your device may simply be turned off or it is not charging correctly. To fix this, follow these steps:
● Press the button for four seconds to turn your device ON. The same action applies to turning it OFF as well.
● Ensure optimal charging for your device by using the official IQOS power adaptor and cable. Unofficial ones may interrupt the charging. Refrain from charging with a laptop as this may also interrupt the charging.
● Check the charging port of your device. If there is any blockage, remove this by gently blowing from a distance.
● While the device is charging, the lights will pulse. It can take up to 20 minutes for lights on a deeply discharged device to appear.
● RESET your device by pressing the button for 10 seconds. Keep it pressed while all the lights dim. The RESET will be confirmed when all the lights briefly blink white.
If the problem is still not resolved, you can run the Online Device Diagnostic Tool.
You may notice that the red light on your IQOS ILUMA and IQOS ILUMA Prime Pocket Charger is flashing. This means that your Holder is warning you that its charge is low. If this is the case, follow these steps:
● You can stop the light from flashing by charging your IQOS ILUMA / IQOS ILUMA PRIME.
● To ensure an optimal charge, keep the contacts between your Holder and Pocket Charger clean.
● When the strip light of your Pocket Charger is blinking red, perform a RESET by pressing the Pocket Charger button for 10 seconds. Keep it pressed while all the lights fade out and fade in again. Wait until the device vibrates.
You may notice that the red light on your IQOS ILUMA ONE is flashing. This means that your device software might need a RESET. To reset your device, follow these steps:
● Press the button for 10 seconds.
● Keep it pressed while all the lights dim out.
● The RESET will be confirmed when all the lights briefly blink white.
